Why you should consider donating funds to PRSA

As you can see from the launch of this new website, we are working hard to strengthen and make PRSA a more effective professional organization.

Services we provide

Our conferences and symposia provide two principal services:

  • They offer a venue for scholars, educators, public policy experts, community activists, and artists, to present their latest research and creative work. These opportunities, and the critical dialogues that follow each presentation, significantly contribute to increasing the production and enhancing the caliber of published scholarship in a myriad of fields and disciplines. It equally encourages the growth and development of public policy and applied research addressing issues facing Puerto Rican communities.

  • Each conference also offers multiple opportunities for young scholars to foster relationships with mentors while networking with others in their field(s). To this end, each conference and symposium we organize includes professional development workshops targeted at graduate students and junior faculty.

Our conferences serve to help develop, support and encourage new and emerging cohorts of Puerto Rican thinkers across academia and the arts, as well in communities across the diaspora and archipelago.

Our contributions to academia

In the course of the past two decades, the PRSA has significantly and steadily contributed to the development of young Latina and Latino graduate students and scholars who have joined the ranks of institutions of higher learning in both the United States and Puerto Rico, institutions in which they eventually have achieved promotion and tenure.

Helping develop the talent and promise of new generations of scholars in the early and mid-stages of their career continues to be among our most important concerns and on-going contributions to Puerto Rican Studies.

We need your financial support today

Our conferences and symposia represent a very large financial investment by a relatively small organization. The income from membership dues and conference registration fees, our two principal revenue streams, is insufficient, by itself, to cover the full expenses of each conference. To continue holding them, to include new kinds of programming, to further develop, expand and improve the services to our members, PRSA needs your financial help. Your contribution, no matter how modest, can make a real difference.

As you consider making a special donation, please remember that PRSA is now a federally-recognized 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization and that as a result your contributions to PRSA are tax-deductible.

Thanks! ¡Gracias!
